From left to right on your radio dial? Um, not for me. That is the title of my latest post over at the Humor Bloggers Fantasy Football League Blog. I’ll have another post there tomorrow for Tuesday Morning QB.

As of this morning, my team there is ahead 98-90 over the Bourbon Blasters. We’ll see how it turns out after tonight’s Giants-Cowboys game. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I am, go Felix Jones!

Oh, my quarterbacks are Aaron Rodgers AND Brett Favre. After last night’s game, anybody want a sexting 40-something over-the-hill QB? I’m up for a trade.

Mojo not working, but hey, it’s a small world after all, so it’s all OK

Each Friday (or at least one Friday or Saturday a month the way it’s been going), I post Flashback Friday, where I use St. Ignatius of Loyola’s Examen as a guide and ask the following questions:

For what are you least grateful this past week?

For what are you most grateful this past week?

LEAST GRATEFUL

The last time I posted in September, I talked about being grateful for finding my iPod Shuffle that I had lost. Now that I’ve lost it again, I have to rank it up there with one of those things for which I’m least grateful this week.

iPod shuffle

Another thing for which I’m least grateful this week is my mojo…which isn’t working, thanks mostly to a lingering cold and normal allergies.

Er. I guess he was…um…confident with his sexuality, based on his dance with the other man near the end of that video.

MOST GRATEFUL

Up until this morning and last night, I didn’t know what I was going to write about being most grateful. Being alive? That was about it. However, after interacting with some friends online via Twitter (@gaylejack in Texas, @Andres_Amador in Iowa, @JJLabarbera in Delaware, @tardisgrl in Massachusetts) last night and Skype (one in Tanzania and one in South Korea, on a conference call) this morning, I think I’m grateful for friends all over the country and all over the world…

…and you know I have to pull out this song when talking about how…

Or as they say in Japanese:

Sekai wa hitotsu,
Sekai wa onaji,
Sekai wa marui,
Tada hitotsu.

Thanks for the translation to this site.

The best books I’ve read and movies I’ve watched this year thus far

Right now it’s neck and neck between the number of books I’ve read this year, 53, with the number of movies I’ve watched this year, 55. It looks like I’ll easily surpass last year’s numbers of 54 for books and 53 for movies. To see a list of the books I’ve read and movies I’ve watched, click here (with a link to my listography list of movies watched this year at the bottom of that page and trailers for all the movies on the listography list).

To learn how to order the book from Bancroft Book, click on the cover.

Among the best books I’ve read within the last few months have been Purple Jesus by Ron Cooper, which I reviewed last week and also coincidentally was released last week, Godric by Frederick Buechner and The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson.

Far and away, though, my favorite book  of this year (so far) was Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. Also extremely good was Memory by Donald E. Westlake, a novel from the 1960s that previously had been rejected by publishers but thankfully was published this year.

As for movies, from back in March, since the American version recently was released, I have to mention the original Swedish version, Let The Right One In:

(Note: Just playing the trailer now, with its creepy music, made my cat, who is sitting on my arm as I type this, jump up.)

Forget all other vampire movies. This one sets the bar high for all other vampire movies, period.

From September, I also have to mention this one:

because, well, it just rocks, period.

And last, but not least, I’ll throw in this one, which The Wife and I just watched the other night:

Fun for the whole family? You betcha. Plus some kick-ass graphics, to boot.

For God’s sake, woman, he’s a man, he’s got a man cold

That’s where this:

has been for the last two weeks.

On the couch. Watching clips on YouTube and movies on Netflix…and, oh, reading books on paper — some, but not much.

Oh, by the way, my wife still hasn’t gotten my soup…I’m still waiting.
