So looking back at this week, through the prism of the Sleeping with Bread meme, I ask myself and ask you to ask yourself:
For what am I/are you most grateful this past week?
For what am I/are you least grateful this past week?
For what am I most grateful this past week?
1. Body: Losing three pounds from early last week to early this week, with WeightWatchers and walking at least three times a week.
2. Mind: Starting to read The Complete Sherlock Holmes: 4 Novels and 56 stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
3. Soul: This may seem trivial, but being able to eat a big burger for lunch today on one of the Fridays of Lent, thanks to St. Joseph. My alter ego, Unfinished Rambler, even suggested earlier how big of a burger I could eat. While it wasn’t that big, it was big. Normally during Lent, Catholics fast from meat during the Fridays of Lent, except for solemnities, of which today’s Feast of St. Joseph was. To be honest, I’m getting sick of Veggie Delite subs at Subway (blech) for lunch on the Fridays of Lent.
For what am I least grateful this past week?
1. Body: Not walking an hour every other day as I had challenged myself (and done) last week. I missed Wednesday and today I didn’t eat that great, no, not just the burger, but also a Philly cheesesteak wrap for dinner, even though I walked to and from work at the library.
2. Mind: Losing focus and motivation again on the job front, as I faltered again and didn’t pick up and/or finish any new assignments from a freelance writing site of which I am a member. The articles are small and aren’t on subjects that interest me, no matter how hard I look. Maybe I need to look to another site, or just suck it up and do the little I can for the little pay I get.
3. Soul: Missing Mass to start off the week.
Yet I am still grateful, and I encourage you to be grateful too:
The badge above is one of three new badges I’m using for my themed days, with the first one introduced Monday for Motivation Monday, the second one introduced Wednesday for Midweek Review, and the last one introduced today for Flashback Friday. This one is using a photo that my wife took.

I love how you divided up the consolation/desolation into the body, mind and soul category. . . that might be helpful for me to frame it that way for me.
I hope that you are able to find your motivation about work. I am HORRIBLE about doing things I don’t want to do like that.
I just got the host post up for this week. It’s not tooooo late this week. ; )
Well, the reason I did that is because that’s the theme of my blog: the journey of an unfinished person, body, mind and soul.
As for work, still not happening, but I’ve been getting more “work” in my job as a correspondent for a daily newspaper and my job at our local library, where I might be getting more hours in the near future.
I’ll stop by, but probably will skip writing one today since I already missed my Flashback Friday last week and today, I have a post called Motivation Monday, related to my exercise (or lack thereof), that I need to complete this afternoon. I will work on getting a Flashback Friday post up this Friday.
Hi.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my post. It’s nice to know that my absence was noticed.
Congrats on the weight loss and walking. I ran once this week and was so sore the next two days. Just because the weather turned nice doesn’t mean I’m in good enough shape to run. It definitely takes time to build up to it.
Have a good week.
Actually almost everybody’s been absent over at SWB, including myself last week. Sometimes it happens.
Hopefully, I’ll see you next week.
I’ve run none this week yet, thanks to rainy weather. But I’ll be back out soon. And thank you for stopping by to comment here too.
I tried that walking an hour every other day thing. Did it for a while, too. Then I discovered that I walking to restaurants, usually hamburger joints. Hmmm, I said to myself, you are a food addict and you’re going to die young. Sigh.
Actually when I stepped up from walking to running, one of my favorite places to run past was McDonald’s. It gave me great satisfaction to run right past it. I’m hoping to get there again…hopefully by the summer. I know it can be done, because I’ve done it once previously — and to encourage you, I believe you can do it too.
oops – forgot to link the book Fitness Walking for Dummies by Liz Neporent
Well, good for you on loosing weight. What’s your walking program like ? Anything intense ? Heart rate targeting etc ?
For me, I’ve been following “Fitness Walking for Dummies”
I have been checking out of the library continuously for … err… such a long time that my brother re-played a scene from the Simpsons.
“You’ve been checking it out for the past x months Why don’t you just buy the book ?” “Maybe on a librarian’s salary”

I’ve been in the same boat as you about some of the assignments I need to do – except that I have no interest in accounting and budgeting whatsoever !
I’m just trying to work myself back up to running. No program. No heart rate targeting or anything that complex.
You probably should buy the book.
Hey, I have no interest in accounting and budgeting either.
