Weekly Geeks returns

Weekly Geeks returns after its founder Dewey passed away late last year. Here is the topic:

In the spirit of the amazing community building that Dewey was so good at, tell us about your favorite blogs, the ones you have bookmarked or subscribe to in your Google Reader, that you visit on a regular basis. Tell us what it is about these blogs that you love, that inspire or educate you or make you laugh. Be sure to link to them so we can find them too.

Another option: Reading goals for ’09 and wrap ups for ’08 have been pretty well covered by now on a lot of blogs and other memes. But if you haven’t done this, feel free to make that your first WG of the new year, in addition to or instead of the above.

I’m going to do both since I’m a little behind on reading goals.

First, among my favorite bloggers, whose sites I hate to admit I haven’t visited lately as much as I would like, but I still enjoy their writing nonetheless. In alphabetical order, they are:

  • Florinda @ The 3 R’s: Reading, ‘Riting and Randomness: I think I might have encountered her first though Weekly Geeks, although I’m not sure. Wherever it was, she is truly a class act and when reading the tribute to Dewey, she’s the one who wrote it.
  • Heather @ Age 30+…A Lifetime of Books: It’s not just her reviews of books, but bonuses such as insight into her own family history that make her blog stand out from others.
  • Jessica @ The Bluestocking Society: It might have been Weekly Geeks through which I encountered Jessica also. Regardless, she once had a poetry-themed Tuesday for which I think I was her lone supporter and I’m now taking part in her Lit Flicks Reading Challenge.
  • Kerrie @ Mysteries in Paradise: Hailing from New Zealand, Kerrie brings readers everything about mystery. Her most recent challenge: An Agatha Christie Reading Challenge.
  • Raych @ books i done read: If there’s one thing on which you can count from Raych, it’s honesty. She will tell you exactly what she thinks of a book, regardless of what the author might tell her to think. ;)

My reading goal

  • To read for the  most part whatever strikes my fancy and not worry about challenges (will complete the few with which I”m still involved, but after that, no more).

  1. Except for Rayche, I know all others and they are good!

Also updating you in my reader!

    Weekly Geeks is back!

  2. I haven’t signed up for any new challenges either. I just don’t think I’m cut out for them.

  3. Thanks for putting me on your short list :-)! I can’t remember for certain either if we “met” through Weekly Geeks either – I THINK so…

Good luck with the blog consolidation – if it means you’ll be posting more often, it’s a good move :-). And I think your reading goal is just perfect.

  4. Aww . . . thanks for the shout-out. I’m loving the remodel. I can’t wait to see how your new format shakes out.

  5. I know Raych has had a computer failure – I wonder if she knows how many times she’s been mentioned for this assignment??!! Great list there.

  6. Welcome back to Weekly Geeks.
Just a small correction – I’m from Adelaide in South Australia, not NZ. :-)

  7. Sorry I haven’t been by to say thanks before … I someone forgot to add your new blog to my reader! I was WONDERING why I hadn’t read much from you lately … oops. But thank you (a bit late)!

    • I’m putting up an introductory post over here today also. I was sick last week with a stomach flu so haven’t been posting much anyway. Slowly getting back up to speed and won’t be all book related, but will be some.
