Friday Finds: Rex Libris: I, Librarian and Superman of Tomorrow

fridayfinds926

I found this week’s Friday Finds yesterday at the library on a quick detour as I was heading out the door through the graphic novels section.

The first two are Superman for Tomorrow, Volumes 1 and 2 (although I have them in reverse order in the picture, oh, well) by Brian Azzarello, Jim Lee and Scott Williams, and I just picked them up because, well, they’re Superman and reminded me of the artwork that Frank Miller has done in his Batman series.

The third is Rex Libris Volume 1: I, Librarian by James Turner, which collects issues No. 1 through No. 5 of the Rex Libris series. Over the title is The World’s Favorite Kick-Ass Sesquepedalian Librarian! which although misspelled on the book cover is not misspelled Sesquipedalian on the Rex Libris website.

I’m not sure how to describe it and due it justice. Just check out the site to get a flavor of Rex, who within the first few pages does battle with a demon spirit samurai who wants to check out a book called “Evil Made Easy” — without a library card! Rex can’t take that. The story unfolds from there.

I recently learned the first copy is being offered available for free, except the cost of shipping, from the site for a limited time. If it sounds like something up your alley, then I encourage you to check it out. So far, I’m loving it.
